100 Days. One Shift. When Everything Finally Made Sense.

Every year, before my birthday, I begin a 100-day countdown.

Not to celebrate age. But to rebuild myself.

This year, as I step toward 56, Day 1 didn’t begin with a plan.
It began with a prayer. That morning, I stood facing the sun, something I’ve done for years, but this time was different. There were tears. Not of weakness, but of surrender.

I didn’t ask for small wins. I asked for my best version. A stronger body. A calmer mind. A deeper sense of control over myself and then… the universe responded. The Alignment I Didn’t Plan

That same day at the Marrian Infra Fitness Club, a guest speaker walked in, Dr. S. Dharani, founder of Orbito Asia Diagnostics.

I didn’t know then that this conversation would change something fundamental within me.

He didn’t speak about diets.
He didn’t speak about calories.
He didn’t speak about complicated routines.

He spoke about truth. The Truth We’ve Forgotten. He spoke about how human beings originally lived. No fixed meal times. No engineered foods. No instant gratification. Food was earned. Sometimes found. Sometimes not and the body adapted. Fasting wasn’t a trend. It was natural existence.

What struck me deeply was not just the science, but the simplicity.

For years, I’ve read. I’ve practiced. I’ve walked this journey.
From my book Fat2Fit to my personal routines with Cherian Kuruvila.

Yet something always felt… slightly off when it came to my relationship with food. Like I was doing the right things, but not in the most natural way.

That day, it clicked. “Don’t Experiment With Your Genes”

One line stayed with me.

“Do not try to experiment with your genes. Your genes have remained the same for thousands of years. Engineer your environment to suit your genes, not your genes to suit your environment.” — Dr. S. Dharani

That line didn’t just make sense. It settled something within me.

We’ve overcomplicated health. We’ve tried to modify ourselves to fit a fast, convenient, over-processed world. But maybe… the answer is simpler. Maybe we just need to return. My First Step Back to Basics. I decided that day, no overthinking. I would start fasting. Not the structured version. Not the marketed version, but something closer to what the body understands.

It’s been 2 days now.

Day 1, I lost 1.6 kilos. Exactly as Dr. Dharani had said to me when I said I will start the fast.  A quiet confidence that my body finally felt heard is what I sensed in these past 2 days of fasting with just water, tender coconut water and green tea. This Isn’t About Weight. This is not about losing kilos. This is about alignment.

About finally understanding that the body is not the problem, our lifestyle is and maybe, just maybe, the more we try to control everything,
the further we move away from what actually works.

100 Days to My Best Version

I don’t know where these 100 days will take me, but I know this:

This time, I am not fighting my body.
I am working with it.

This time, I am not chasing results.
I am restoring balance.

This time, I am not forcing change.
I am allowing truth.

And if Day 1 is anything to go by, I know I’m on the right path.

Because sometimes, your transformation doesn’t begin with a plan.

It begins with a moment of surrender…
and the right voice arriving at the right time.
